None of them.camera model is supported, it works with other softwares on windows (and on mac), parallels is never a problem because it's a direct connection to the devices, and all my devices work in parallels. Hopefully soon I'll start using BYN with this setup Obviously the tests on BYN WERE NOT performed in that scenario, but inside my house and with the two cables to my Nikon running each one directly from the two usb ports of my Mac to avoid any problem, and the camera cable was also the original one (I tried also with the one I use with my mount, same result BYN cannot find my camera). Many would say is extreme but works perfectly every night (I'm an IT engineer and I bought all quality stuff), and even now with the usb serial shutter release cable and Digicamcontrol all works without problems. All of these taking power from the 12m USB cable to my single USB3 port and my XP3 Virtual Machine. That means running one single 12m USB cable from the USB3 port of my Mac to the mount, where there's an unpowered USB3 hub (it takes power from my Mac), and attached to the hub there are Orion Autoshooter guide camera, usb serial connection to my EQ5, my Nikon usb cable for camera images, and the Steve's usb serial shutter release cable. To make the test even more real, I tried now the Digicamcontrol + usb remote shutter cable from Steve, all on the field (in my backyard!) for real. In the meantime it seems I'll use Digicamcontrol to do automatic AP with PHD dithering.waiting to use BYN I'm available to run a debug version of BYN and check in detail with the dev what's not working in the connection phase. Sadly it does not offer yet integration with Astrotortilla and is not dedicated only to AP like BYN, I'd love to use BYN but for this these connection problems should be solved. In Digicamcontrol my camera works (via PTP) and the serial usb shutter cable as well works, and there's (I did not know) a specific Astro section that connects with PHD and allows planning sessions and dithering, with also some more advanced scripting if needed. I posted a message on Digicamcontrol forum about the not working usb serial cable with their software, the dev asked for logs and pointed me to latest version where actually (yeah!!) everything works. Sadly I cannot try because I have no pc only macs, and in all honesty all the other software I use (eqmod, cart du ciel, phd, astrotortilla, nebulosity) works perfectly in this specifically configured instance of XP SP3 dedicated only to astrophotography, and being a VM offers superior stability and speed (is on a top spec 15inch macbook retina with SSD and 16gb of RAM, virtual machine configured to the best possible specs supported by XP 32bit).
If you reboot your computer (I know it is harsh) does it connect? and with all the communication issue I'm not sure this was the best decision. When I decided to use the Nikon SDK 2 years ago when I started BackyardNIKON I made that decision thinking it would be more stable since it was the official Nikon SDK. So they are not use the same communication method. Anyone with similar experience where camera is perfectly recognised by the system, works with other tethered camera softwares but not with BYN?ĭigiCam Control uses PTP to communicate with the Camera, I use the Nikon SDK. I was trying to look into BYN logs but there's no log with details about the connection tries with the camera. Seems more a problem of the Nikon drivers in BYN. As I wrote in the OP I use this Parallels for every session of astrophotography, and while BYN does not see the camera, DigiCamControl (another software to control Nikon cameras) can see and operate it without problems.
Yes Device Manager sees the camera, as well as the serial com for the remote shutter (even if not important at this stage).
